ABSTRAK

Skin has several functions, but its main function is to protect the inside of the body from physical and mechanical disturbances. Skin is sensitive to the external environment. Therefore, various skin problems can arise, one of which is wounds. The usual wound treatment is chemical treatment using antiseptics. Antiseptics have antimicrobial properties that can kill bacteria. However, leukocytes which function to kill pathogenic bacteria and fibroblast tissue which forms new skin tissue can also be killed by antiseptics. Therefore, to help the wound healing process, alternative medicines such as traditional medicine are needed. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of Batak onion tuber extract on the healing of cut wounds in white rats. This research is experimental research using a post-test control group design. Data analysis used One way ANOVA. The research results showed that Batak onion (Allium chinense G. Don) extract positively contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and triterpenoids/steroids, but Batak onion (Allium chinense G. Don) extract did not contain tannin compounds. Batak onion extract (Allium chinense G. Don) has effectiveness as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. Giving Batak onion tuber extract to Wistar rat wound tissue had an effect on increasing the number of fibroblasts and collagen density. Batak onion extract (Allium chinense G. Don) is effective in healing cut wounds in white rats.
