ABSTRAK

Worldwide, many people suffer from hair loss. Vitamins and minerals can be used to treat hair

loss, which is a common condition. Flavonoids that are rich in anthocyanins and phenols can

be found in black rice (Oryza sativa l. indica). This study looked at whether applying an

ointment containing black rice extract sped up the growth of hair follicles in Wistar rats

(Rattus norvegicus). This was a real experiment involving thirty mice.

Black rice extract was produced, ointment was made, and test animals were acclimated in a

laboratory. Following an Ointment Assessment Test, Phytochemical Screening was carried

out. Examine the Functional Group of FT-IR. Antioxidant activity will be ascertained using

DPPH testing. Ultimately, four groups underwent 21 days of treatment (control group,

treatment groups 1, 2, and 3 with 10%, 20%, and 30% ointments). SPSS was used to handle

study results. The Independent Samples T-Test revealed 0.00 < 0.05 significance, whereas the

Normality Test revealed 0.652 > 0.05 significance. The active compound test indicates that the

antioxidant properties of black rice include alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and

steroids/triterpenoids. 10% black rice ointment dose therapy produced growth on average of

0.681 cm, 20% 0.769 cm, and 30% 0.851 cm. According to the study, there is a high

concentration of antioxidants (ppm concentration value <50) in black rice extract, which can

help prevent premature skin aging and improve the health of the skin and hair.
