ABSTRAK

Students' interest in reading the reading text of the folklore "Danau Linting" can be piqued by this research. The origin of the term "Danau Linting " in the Deli Serdang district of the North Sumatra province is the main subject of this study. The research methodology used is interview, observations, collect data and change the recording data into written data. The type of the research used is qualitative research. The findings of this research also aim to influence students’ interest in reading by explaining the origin of the term “Danau Linting”. Based on the folklore “Danau Linting” from Sinembah Tanjung Muda Hulu District, Serdang Regency, researchers will design folklore-based reading materials to attract students’ interest in reading.
