ABSTRAK

Heat, chemicals, electricity, radiation or sunlight can damage tissue and cause burns. The extent of the wound and the amount of skin peeled off determine how severe the wound is. If not treated promptly, they can be painful and lead to infection. Therefore, to aid the healing process, burns should be treated promptly with different types of medication. This study was conducted to try to find out if a cream made from sweet potato (Pachyrhizus erosus) extract and egg white can speed up burn recovery. We used pre-test and post-test in this study; to compare them, we used a control group design. When compared with egg white, Wistar strain with sweet potato (Pochyrhizus erosus) extract was more effective to treat burns on the back of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). In this study, it was said that bengkuang extract cream can heal burns better than egg white. When conducting this study, additional elements such as extract concentration should also be considered. Another factor affecting the results of the study was the small sample size, which consisted of 24 white mice. A large sample size may reduce the possibility of generalization errors. Stress should be considered as an internal component as it has a major impact on wound healing in rats. Stress increases cortisol levels in mice, which reduces cellular immunity and shortens wound healing.
