ABSTRAK

This study was carried out to determine the types sorts of errors that made in narrative texts authored by Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Kuta Buluh, Tanah Karo in the 2022-2023 of academic year. This study focused on 28 students. The author applied a descriptive qualitative method. This study was done offline on Friday, May 19, 2023. The researchers investigated the pupils' narrative text authoring flaws. This study focused on categorizing student writing errors. The examination of the findings using the Surface Strategy Taxonomy indicated 40 errors in the narrative text given by students. There were 11 addition errors totalling 27.5%, 20 omission errors totalling 50%, 7 misformation errors totalling 17.5%, and 2 misordering errors totalling 5%. Omission is the most common error (20 out of 40). Finally, the researchers detected 40 mistakes in narrative text authored by Ninth Grade Students from SMPN 1 Kuta Buluh, Tanah Karo.
