ABSTRAK

Literature is used to instill life values in readers, namely character education values and cultural values. On that basis, a literary analysis was carried out which aims to describe the value of character education and cultural values of the Short Story Anthology Zulaiha barge by Hasan Al-Banna. This research is a qualitative research type that was conducted from January 2022 to April 2023. The research data is in the form of words or written data in short stories in short story anthologiesZulaiha bargeby Hasan Al-Banna. Data collection techniques using document recording techniques were carried out by collecting data on character education values and cultural values in short stories. Data analysis techniques by way of interactive analysis. The research procedure includes the planning, implementation, and report preparation stages. The results of the study found that the aspect of character education values that was most commonly found was the social writing aspect. The value of character education in short story anthologies Zulaiha barge can be classified in the form of religious, concern for others, concern for oneself, and nationalism. The most commonly found cultural values are values related to society. Cultural values in the short story anthologyZulaiha bargeHasan Al-Banna's work is a cultural representative in North Sumatra. This is evidenced by the story of customs and prohibitions in North Sumatra contained in the anthology of short stories Zulaiha barge This.
