THE EFFECT OF USING SHORT MOVIE ON STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT

ABSTRAK

This thesis is a research about the effect of using short movie on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. The objective of this study is to find out the effect of using short movie on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. The researcher applying quantitative method used pre-test, treatment and post-test. The researcher was carried out at SMA Pangeran Antasari Medan, to the students class X Science and X Social. Total population is 52 students, with 26 students of experimental group and 26 students of control group. Experimental group is a class which getting treatment short movie and control group is a class without short movie. The researcher gives the test in writing essay test. The students must answer the pre-test and post-test with the same test. The technique of collecting data used t-test formula. The analysis showed that the score of the students with short movie were different significantly from those students without short movie. T-test was 2.61 while t-table was 1.676. That is there was a significant effect of using short movie on students’ achievement in writing narrative text, because 2.61 ≥ 1.676.
