ABSTRAK
Background: Psychological distress is defined as an emotional problem characterized by different psychological symptoms, such as depression and anxiety. College environment especially medical students can cause psychological
distress. Factors that can be related to psychological distress are due to adjustment, learning with new things, competition, social problems, high demands, fatigue, poor support and lack of rest. Therefore, psychological distress is a mental health problem which is a new problem for medical students.
Objective: To find out the difference of The Kessler Psychological Distress-10 (K-10) score in first and third year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Science Universitas Prima Indonesia.
Method: This study is an observational analytic study with a diagnosis of unpaired numerical comparative analytic study to assess differences of The Kessler Psychological Distress-10 (K-10) score in first and third year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Science Universitas Prima Indonesia. using The Kessler Psychological Distress-10 (K-10) assessment instrument.
Results: There was a very significant difference of the Kessler Psychological Distress-10 (K-10) score in first and third year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Science Universitas Prima Indonesia.which is very significant in the first and third year students. p <0.001.
Conclusion: There was a differences of psychological distress in first-year and third-year medical students. Psychological distress is more common in first year medical students than in third years.
