UJI AKTIVITAS EKSTRAK ETANOL KULIT JERUK SUNKIST ( Citrus Sinensis (L.) Osbeck ) PADA KADAR GULA DARAH DAN STRUKTUR HISTOLOGI PANKREAS TIKUS WISTAR ( Rattus norvegicus ) DENGAN METODE INDUKSI STREPTOZOTOCIN
Diabetes Melitus (DM) merupakan penyakit kronis akibat pankreas tidak menghasilkan insulin yang memadai atau ketika tubuh tidak bisa efektif menggunakan insulin yang tersedia. Pada Citrus terkandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, yang memiliki aktivitas farmakologis sepertiantioksidan. Manfaat dari antioksidan diantaranya mampu menangkal penyakit degeneratif seperti diabetes melitus.Tujuan: Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak kulit jeruk Sunkist (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) terhadap perbaikan kadar gula darah dan histologi pancreas tikus yang di induksi streptozotocin.Metode: Jenis penelitian ini ialah eksperimental, desain penelitian adalah True Experimental-Pre Test and Post-Test Control Group Design dan jumlah hewan uji 24 ekor yang dibagi enam kelompok dan mendapat perlakuan yang berbeda. Hasilnya dianalisis menggunakan software SPSS, dan untuk gambaran histopatologi tikus dibedah dan pankreas diambil untuk dijadikan preparat lalu dilakukan pewarnaan menggunakan metode hematoksilin eosin (HE).Hasil: Pada gambaran histopatologi pankreas terdapat kerusakan yang ditandai dengan degenerasi sel, nekrosis sel, aterosklerosis dan bahkan kongesti pembuluh darah.Kesimpulan: Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kulit jeruk sunkist bisa menurunkan kadar gula darah tikus dan terdapat perbaikan pada organ pankreas yang diberi ekstrak 1000 mg/KgBB yang ditandai dengan minimalnya degenarasi pada jaringan dan nekrosis sudah tidak dijumpai.
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SUNKIST ORANGE PEEL (Citrus Sinensis (L.) Osbeck) ETHANOL EXTRACT ON BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS AND HISTOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF WISTAR RAT (Rattus norvegicus) PANCREAS WITH STREPTOZOTOCIN INDUCTION METHOD
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by the pancreas not producing adequate insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the available insulin. Citrus contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, which have pharmacological activities such as antioxidants. The benefits of antioxidants include being able to ward off degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus.Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of administration of Sunkist’s skin extract (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) on the improvement of blood sugar levels and histology of the pancreas of rats induced by streptozotocin.Methods: The type of this research was experimental, the research design was True Experimental-Pre Test and Post-Test Control Group Design and the number of test animals was 24 animals which were divided into six groups and received different treatments. The results were analyzed using SPSS software, and for histopathological description of the rats, the pancreas was dissected and taken to be used as preparations and then stained using the hematoxylin eosin (HE) method.Results: The histopathological description of pancreas there is damage which is cell degeneration, cell necrosis, atherosclerosis and vascular congestion.Conclusion: The conclusion of this study indicate that the ethanolic extract of sunkist orange peel can reduce blood sugar levels of rats and there is an improvement in the pancreas organ given the extract of 1000 mg/KgBW which is characterized by minimal tissue degeneration and necrosis is not found.
