ABSTRAK
A Textbook is a reference for teachers and students on learning. This study aims to analyze the material and activities of the eighth-grade students in the textbook "when English rings a bell". The analysis is focused on the presentation of material and activities. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using content analysis. From the aspect of presenting material and written activities, all written materials and assignments are in a new form. The findings show that the content of the material is very closely related to student activities in the classroom, the activities carried out by students in the textbook lead them to be able to make words, give suggestions, make invitations and pay attention, and be able to do it every day. The relevance of the material to student activities helps students improve their learning in class for independent learning including writing skills, the topics presented in each chapter are different so that students have the opportunity to explain topics in different ways so that it will make it easier for them become more active and creative.
