ABSTRAK

A B S T R A C T

Based on a survey in Indonesia, 38% of mothers stop breastfeeding

because of a lack of milk production. So that it affects the decrease

in the production and performance of the hormones oxytocin and

prolactin and makes milk production decrease, so the mother stops

breastfeeding and gives formula milk to her baby. To overcome the

shortcomings of fluency, breast milk can be done in a simple way

by utilizing the natural potential of plants that are nutritious as a

herb such as papaya. The aim was to determine the effect of papaya

fruit (Carica Papaya L) on the smoothness of breast milk

production in breastfeeding mothers at the Supiani midwife clinic

in Medan in 2021. The population in this study were all post

partum mothers in 2021 at the Supiyani midwife clinic in Medan as

much as 30 January. The sample in this study were all Post Partum

mothers on the third to seventh day of the day as many as 30

people. Based on the pre and post Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, the

Z value is -4.768a with a p-value of 0.000. The p-value test value is

0.001 <0.005 (H0 rejected). This shows that there is a difference

between before the papaya fruit was offered (carica papaya L) and

after being given papaya fruit (carica papaya L).
