ABSTRAK
Writing is an activity to create an essay or a fact in the information. Writing cannot be said to be easy because
writing requires concentration and broad thinking to turn one word into a paragraph. So with this study researchers
used environmental photo techniques to make it easier for students, especially students at SMP PUTERI SION
where researchers used two classes, namely the experimental class and the ordinary class. The purpose of the
researchers using environmental photo techniques, especially in writing expository texts, is to make it easier for
students to rewrite facts or information that are following the images provided by researchers to students. The design
used by the researcher was quantitative research, the data collection technique used by the researcher was obtained.
The results of this study were pretest 39.68 and posttest 67.95 from the results obtained 5.35. according to Cohen.
Manion, & Morisson were 0-0.20 category weak effect, while 0.21-0.50 category modest effect and 0.51-1.00
category strong effect. After conducting this research on grade IX students, it was proven that the environmental
photo technique used by students in writing expository text had an effect.
