THE EFFECT OF MIND MAPPING TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN DESCRIPTIVE WRITING

ABSTRAK
The intention of this research is to see the effect of mind mapping technique on students’ achievement in learning to write at the eighth grade of SMP SWASTA PUTERI SION in year 2020/2021. This study used quantitative method with two classes as the samples, namely experimental class and control class. Each of the classes was given the same pre-test and post-test to obtain the data. In the treatment period, the experimental class was handled by using mind mapping technique. The data analysis was calculated by using T-test formula. The result showed that mind mapping is an effective technique to be implemented in teaching writing. It was explained by the result of the t- test score = 3.63 was higher than the t-table = 2.02. So it can be concluded that H0 was rejected. It is found that teaching writing by using mind mapping technique gave good effect on writing skill. It made students think more creatively to enlarge their idea into their writing
