ABSTRAK

Antioxidants are essential substances that can prevent from oxidative stress damage of the liver. Alternative solutions for the reduction of the negative effects of free radicals on the liver might be white turmeric. The purpose of this study is to evaluate, using three indicators: SGOT/SGT enzymes, peripheral blood, and hepatic cell histology, the degree of the protective impact of white turmeric on the rat's liver. There were 30 rats which were divided into 6 groups and applied in this research, comprising a normal group (without treatment), a negative control group (Na-CMC 0.5%), a positive control group (Catechins), and 3 experimental groups given the extract white turmeric rhizome ethanol with various doses. the whole rats in each groups fed on 150 mg/KgBW of cyclophosphamide solution on days 11 to 15 of the trial. The results revealed that the SGOT and SGPT levels decreased along with a dosage increase in the group with ethanol extract of white turmeric and an improvement in homeostasis and the histopathology of the liver of the rats. The impact of white turmeric is protective against liver cell damage of the rats.
